Lakeside Black Satin

Lakeside Black Satin 18"T X 24"W

$16.00

Very dark (almost black), scalloped heart shaped leaves with heavy substance. Upright growth habit with bell shaped flowers of white on the outside and rose purple inside.

We recommend using a pinch of epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) around each plant to make it darker.

Cold Hardiness: U.S.D.A. Zones 3 to 9 - Hostas require a minimum of 40 days of around 40 degrees farenheit. Hosta plants tend to grow larger in the North. In the South you may need to be more selective in the varieties of hostas that you choose.
Light Requirements: Partial sun, filtered shade, morning sun. - Most hostas will tolerate some sun if the soil is kept reasonably moist. Morning sun or filtered sun is the best for hostas but avoid mid-day sun as it will burn the leaves.
Water Requirements: Keep soil constantly moist avoiding any areas where water may puddle
Fertilizer Requirements: In early Spring apply a light amount of slow-release fertilizer. Avoid getting any fertilizer on the leaves.

All of the plants were still wet in the newspaper. I wasn't able to get them in soil on delivery day. They went in the 2nd day and as of yesterday all seem to be thriving. We are still have mid-30's at night, so they are in a protected area, not outside all day yet. The smaller 2 will probably go in pots for at least this summer. Thanks so much for the contribution to Hosta college. I hope to enjoy the plants from you for many years to come.
